About Flowers on Pollen
For more than 78 years, Flowers on Pollen has been helping people celebrate, comfort and connect through flowers. From our home at 512 Pollen Street in Thames, we've grown from a much-loved local florist into one of the region's leading flower delivery services, proudly serving Thames, the Coromandel Peninsula and the Hauraki Plains. While Flowers on Pollen continues to grow and evolve, our purpose remains unchanged: to create beautiful flowers with genuine care and help people celebrate, comfort and connect through life's most meaningful moments. We're proud of our heritage, but equally passionate about continually improving the experience we offer our customers, our community and our team.
Our team
Flowers on Pollen is proudly owned by Nicole and Mike Phillips, who purchased the business in 2024 with a vision of honouring its rich history while helping it flourish for the next generation. Nicole spent more than 20 years working in corporate communications, design research and publishing before following a lifelong love of gardening and creativity into floristry.
“Flowers have an incredible way of bringing people together through every season of life. It's a privilege to carry forward a business that has shared in those moments for generations, while continuing to grow, improve and create an even better experience for the generations to come.”
Mike brings a background in engineering project management together with a passion for horticulture. From working alongside local growers and suppliers to improving systems behind the scenes (and ensuring the coffee is always flowing), he's the quiet force helping keep Flowers on Pollen blooming every day.
Bre Barker brings boundless creativity and exceptional customer care to every bouquet she designs. A hugely valued member of the Flowers on Pollen team, Bre has an artistic background spanning cake decorating, makeup artistry and dance, giving her a wonderful eye for colour, texture and design. She loves helping customers find the perfect flowers for every occasion and is often the friendly face welcoming people into our shop.
Hayley Sullivan is an integral part of our creative team, working alongside Nicole and Bre to create beautiful bouquets and arrangements each week. With a background in industrial design, she brings thoughtful composition, meticulous attention to detail and a creative approach to every arrangement she makes.
During busy seasons, weddings and events we're also supported by talented florist Hannah Roycroft, along with our wider Flowers on Pollen family who help us care for every order during our busiest times of year.
We're also incredibly fortunate that former owner Sue Gwynne remains part of our extended family, generously sharing decades of knowledge and experience that continue to shape our business today.
